ABOUT US

Therapy with a Holistic Approach

Roadside Therapies is inspired by my family’s deep legacy of healing. My maternal grandmother used food and heartfelt conversation to bring healing and connection to her community. My paternal great-grandmother and grandmother served as doulas, providing support and care in childbirth and beyond for their communities while raising large families of their own. My paternal grandfather and father continue to use traditional knowledge of natural herbs and plants grown wild along the roadside to support wellness.

The name Roadside Therapies is a tribute to my ancestors who healed their communities through generations of shared, traditional practices. Just as they met people where they were, this practice is built on honouring each person’s unique journey and creating a space where they can find their own path to healing. At Roadside Therapies, we embrace a holistic approach, trusting that the wisdom to heal resides within each of us if we’re given the time and space to nurture it.

Journey to Healing: The Roadside Way

Janice Lewis, therapist at Roadside Therapies, providing holistic mental health support

Hi, Sunshine

Welcome to Roadside Therapies. My name is Janice, and my journey as a therapist is deeply rooted in my family’s rich heritage of healing. Coming from a long line of healers, I have been inspired by generations who nurtured their communities through compassion, tradition, and a holistic view of wellness.

My maternal grandmother believed in the power of food and conversation to create healing spaces, while my paternal great-grandmother and grandmother dedicated their lives as doulas, bringing comfort and care to families throughout their communities. My father and paternal grandfather passed down traditional knowledge of herbs and natural remedies, a legacy of wisdom sourced directly from nature.

At Roadside Therapies, I strive to bring that same spirit into my practice. I believe in meeting each person where they are on their journey and empowering them to discover their own capacity for healing. As a Registered Psychotherapist (RP) with the CRPO, a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) with the CCPA, and a member of the Association of Counselling Therapy of Alberta (ACTA), I am committed to providing professional and compassionate care. My training includes Brainspotting, Flash Technique, CBT, DBT,  ACT, SFBT, and trauma-focused therapies.

Roadside Therapies was created with the belief that healing is innate within us all and that, given the right time and space, we can each find our way forward. I have experience supporting first responders, healthcare professionals, educators, corporate professionals, therapists, post-secondary students, entrepreneurs, and young mothers. I aim to provide a supportive space where individuals feel empowered to heal and grow in a way that honours their unique experiences.

I’m honoured to carry my family’s legacy forward and to walk alongside those who seek support, clarity, and transformation.
